Ready, Set, Go: Flawless Skin beckons

As clocks throughout the world ticked past midnight and we welcome the new year in with open arms, dreams and aspirations; now is a better time than ever to reflect on last year and focus on goals for 2017.  I started penning this blog with the objective of all my clients indulging in flawless skin for 2017 and beyond.  Skin care tips for 2017 are as follows:

#Tip 1:  Hydration is key especially so during the dry of fall & winter.  Your cells function and perform best when they are adequately hydrated systemically through fluids, yes I am referring to H2O, and topically through moisturizers.  Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize…and your dermis will be rewarded with glow rather than dullness.

#Tip 2:  Sun protection both through physical and chemical sunscreens are vital in the prevention of photo-damage and resultant cutaneous aging which present itself as wrinkles or “crinkles”, accelerated laxity or sagging, age or liver spots and not to forget nasty cancers which we all want to avoid.  Yes and sunscreen is there to be used on cloudy and rainy days as well, as UVA & UVB rays know no barriers.

#Tip 3:  Topical retinoids are your best friend when it comes to anti-aging skin care.  Retinoids are a derivative of fat soluble Vitamin A and has been used for decades to as anti-inflammatory in acne & psoriasis.  A natural anti-oxidant and a potent promoter of healthy cell turnover and differentiation with resultant effects being improved texture & tone, diminished wrinkles & brown spots along with its pro-collagen effects make this a winner and a must have anti-aging ingredient in everyone’s toolkit.

#Tip 4: Frequent exercise in the range of 30 minutes per day will not only supply your skin with the healthy blood flow it needs but will also indirectly promote happy hormones that your skin and the rest of your body will soak up.

#Tip 5:  Eat a balanced healthy diet with negligible finely refined sugars and your skin will be devoid of blemishes and smiling ear to ear for plenty a year.  Our skin loves anti-oxidants especially of the Vitamins A, C & E form.

Here’s to 2017, anti-oxidants, & flawless skin.  You deserve it!
