"A friend recommended Dr. Chetty. He was incredibly knowledgeable. He wasn’t just focused on my concerns and treatments but about my overall health which impressed me. I had botox on my crow’s feet, 11’s and forehead. I was really happy to see how natural it looked. I was so impressed that I went on to have some filler on my marionette’s and under my eyes. Dr. Chetty is very meticulous and explains everything he is doing before and as he does it"

FAQs About Botox in Kelowna

What is Botox?

Botox is an injectable formula that relaxes facial muscles to prevent them from forming wrinkles during certain expressions like smiling or frowning.

What is the Botox Injection Procedure Like?

Having Botox injections is a relatively simple and effective procedure. Either Dr. Chetty or our cosmetic nurse specialist, Isabel Soriano, will first examine the treatment area to determine the most effective and appropriate injection site. The skin is then thoroughly cleansed and numbed using a topical cream. When numbing has taken effect, typically after about fifteen minutes, Botox can be injected.

After receiving Botox injections, you may experience some redness, soreness, or bruising at the injection site, which should subside quickly. You can return to your normal routine immediately after receiving the injections if you choose, but avoid exercise or other strenuous activity for at least 24 hours. Botox results are typically visible about 3-4 days after receiving injections, and last 3-4 months on average. When Botox results subside, you can receive maintenance injections to keep up your results.

Is Botox right for me?

Looking for a fresher, less tired, less angry, and younger look that still allows you to show natural expressions? Then Botox at Cerulean Medical Institute in Kelowna is the treatment for you.

Line and wrinkle treatments with Botox are ideal for anyone who has concerns about forehead creases, frown lines, or crow’s feet. Botulinum toxin treatment is incredibly versatile and can be combined holistically with other treatments like Juvederm dermal fillers to encompass total rejuvenation of the face.

How does Botox treatment work?

Your cosmetic specialist will inject Botox gently and precisely into the wrinkle-causing muscles, temporarily relaxing facial muscles, preventing the formation of new wrinkles, and softening existing lines. Through expert injection techniques, you will still be able to freely express yourself naturally, but facial expressions will be less extreme to prevent wrinkles.

With repeated treatments your muscles become re-trained in their relaxed state, limiting the damage incurred by the skin’s frequent crinkling and reducing the development of new lines and wrinkles.

What areas of my face can Botox be used to treat?

Botox, when injected to treat forehead wrinkles, results in a refreshed, less concerned, and less tired look.

Botox, when injected around the eyes, softens and improves the appearance of crow’s feet and frown lines. This results in a youthful and a less fatigued look.

Botox, when injected around the eyebrows, creates a subtle brow lift and helps with balancing asymmetrical eyebrows or a drooping brow, resulting in a rejuvenated appearance.

Botox, when injected around the nose, softens and improves bunny lines, decreases widening, and lifts the tip of the nose, resulting in a youthful appearance.

Botox, when injected around the lips, helps to soften smokers’ lines, resulting in a smoother, more youthful appearance. Botox can also improve and soften gummy smiles by reducing how much the lift lips when you smile, creating a more balanced look.

Botox, when injected around the mouth, helps to improve the appearance of downturned mouth corners and marionette lines. This results in a less concerned, happier look.

Botox injections in the chin can reduce an uneven, puckered appearance, resulting in a smoother, more youthful chin.

Botox, when injected to the masseter muscles and jawline, helps to slim down the face for a more oval and feminine-looking face.

Botox injections of the neck can help improve and soften neck lines and platysmal bands for a younger-looking neck line.

How will I feel during my Botox treatment?

What results can I expect from Botox Treatment by Dr. Praven Chetty in Kelowna?

Botox can take from two days to up to two weeks before a line-softening or muscle-relaxing effect occurs. Remember the aim of Botox at Cerulean Medical Institute is not to stop all expression, but to reduce the intensity of the muscle activity that causes the lines and wrinkles in the areas treated. This gives the skin a chance to rest from the repeated furrowing and creasing that can occur hundreds of times a day, enabling the wrinkles or folds to gradually soften over time. On average, Botox results will last four months or more, and patients can receive routine maintenance injections to keep up their new, more youthful look. What is the difference between Botox & Juvederm?

Botox and Juvederm are both used to soften lines and wrinkles thus rendering a refreshed appearance. The difference between these anti-aging injectable treatments is due to their respective physiological properties and mechanisms of action. Botox (a neuromodulator) relaxes specifically targeted muscles, thus softening and over time eliminating unwanted lines and wrinkles. Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler, which when injected into specific areas of the skin acts to restore lost volume below the surface, smoothing out lines, wrinkles, and folds.

Can Botox be used to create a more feminine-shaped face?

Botox when injected accurately into the masseter muscles can help to slim down the face to create a more oval or heart-shaped face. Botox injections into the masseter muscles using advanced injection techniques must be performed by an experienced physician injector. Patients who are ideal candidates for slimming of the face with Botox are those who present with “boxing” of the mandible secondary to overactive thickened masseter muscles. Bruxism (teeth grinding) is a common condition associated with thickened masseter muscles. Botox is an ideal treatment solution for bruxism, with its unique muscle-relaxing properties.

Can Botox be used to treat other conditions?

For example, under-eye wrinkles might be due to a lack of volume and should ideally be treated with the appropriate dermal or soft tissue filler, etc.

At what age should I start Botox?

Botox treatments can be started in your 20s when you start to notice the progression of facial wrinkles. The average Botox patient begins treatment in their mid-to-late 30s.
