About

Kelowna Microneedling Treatment

Microneedling by our Okanagan skin care specialists involves using advanced medical-grade devices to create numerous, carefully well-controlled tiny punctures in the skin. Microneedling treatments stimulate growth factors and your body’s natural healing process in the treated area. It also results in improved blood supply and blood circulation to bring more nutrients to skin cells in the area. This results in new collagen and elastin formation, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, pore size, age spots, stretch marks, and scar tissue. With celebrity fans like Gwyneth Paltrow and Kim Kardashian, there is no surprise why medical microneedling has become such a sought-after treatment.

Who Is An Ideal Candidate For Microneedling?

Candidates for microneedling include those facing wrinkles, fine lines, scarring, enlarged pores, or sun damage, and wish to address these concerns non-surgically. A microneedling procedure is generally reserved for patients who are at least twenty years old and older. A good candidate is also generally healthy and free from skin infections or other skin disorders such as eczema or active acne. Dr. Chetty will evaluate your skin to determine whether microneedling is the correct treatment option for you.

About

Microneedling MD or collagen induction therapy at our Kelowna skin care centre is a highly effective minimally-invasive treatment for skin rejuvenation. Microneedling (or micro-needling) is a fantastic treatment option for treating acne scars, wrinkles, fine lines, and a variety of other skin concerns including smokers' lines, under-eye wrinkles, stretch marks, sun-damaged skin, hair loss, and much more.

Microneedling involves creating micro-channels in the skin using ultrafine needles. This stimulates collagen production through the skin’s natural healing process, resulting in increased elasticity and improved skin tone and texture in the treatment area. In addition, microneedling can be paired with topical facial treatments to help the skin products more deeply penetrate the skin and enhance results.

FAQs About Microneedling MD in Kelowna

Is Microneedling MD right for me?

Collagen induction therapy is ideal for anyone trying to reduce their wrinkles, large pore size, acne scars, stretch marks, scar treatment, sun damaged skin, hyperpigmentation, hair loss and healthier rejuvenated skin.

How does Microneedling MD work?

Using advanced medical grade devices, our Kelowna skin care specialists gently create controlled tiny microchannels in your skin. This process stimulates growth factors and laying down of new collagen and elastin in your skin. The resulting effect is improved skin texture, tone and firmer skin.

What areas of my body can be treated?

Collagen induction therapy can be performed on all areas of the body and not just the face. This includes the hands, back, chest, arms, buttocks and legs where photo aged skin, acne scars and stretch marks are evident.

How do I prepare for my treatment

We recommend applying a topical anaesthetic cream 45 minutes prior your treatment to make the procedure even more comfortable.

How will I feel during my treatment?

Collagen induction therapy is well tolerated by all our patients.  The procedure usually lasts 30-45 minutes depending on your treatment area.

What results can I expect from my Microneedling MD treatments?

Results include improved skin tone and texture, reduced wrinkles, scars and pore size with tighter firmer and healthier skin.

How many treatments will I need?

This depends on your baseline anatomy, treatment goals and area treated.  Best results from collagen induction therapy are seen after a series of 4-6 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart.

What happens after my treatment?

The natural healing process starts immediately after your treatment with growth factors and new collagen and elastin being laid down.  You can expect your skin to be mildly pink to red during the initial days after treatment.  Our Okanagan skin care specialists at Cerulean Medical Institute will customize a post treatment plan that specifically suits your skin type.
