As we age, the brows can naturally begin to droop, resulting in an unhappy, sad, angry or tired appearance. Some people may also be unhappy with the look of their brows or eyelid area, such as those with hooded or saggy eyelids. In the past, a surgical brow lift was the only option to improve this appearance. Today, Botox injections in Kelowna can be used as a minimally invasive non-surgical treatment solution which requires no downtime and comes with significantly reduced risks. Cerulean Medical Institute offers exclusive Botox brow lifts in Kelowna, BC.

What is a Botox Brow Lift?

A Botox brow lift is a specialized Botox procedure designed to create a brow lift effect similar to a surgical brow lift. It is a minimally invasive alternative to surgery for many patients.

How Does a Botox Brow Lift Work?

Botox uses purified botulinum toxin to relax the depressor brow muscles. This can serve a variety of purposes, including raising the brows for a more youthful, awake, or refined look. During a Botox brow lift procedure, your injector will place Botox injections into the muscles which pull the brows down. By relaxing these muscles, the brows appear naturally raised. Despite relaxing these small muscles, modern injection techniques at Cerulean Medical Institute will still allow you to freely express yourself and move naturally while creating the intended brow lift look.

What is the Botox Brow Lift Procedure Like?

Botox injections are a simple, safe and effective procedure, with many considering the Botox brow lift a “lunchtime” procedure. Dr. Chetty will first confirm after thorough assessment whether you are a suitable candidate for the procedure, then examine the treatment area to determine the correct injection site. There is no anesthesia required, but topical numbing cream may be applied to keep you comfortable through the injections. The injections can then be completed in as little as ten minutes.

After your injections are complete, you can return to your normal routine with few restrictions or side effects. Some swelling or redness are both normal but should subside quickly. Dr. Chetty will advise you to avoid exercise or other strenuous activities to avoid bruising.

Therapeutic results of your treatment may be noticeable about 2 weeks after your treatment. Most patients will begin to notice early effects within a few days, which continue to improve. Dr. Chetty will explain what you can expect during a consultation.

Am I a Candidate?

A Botox brow lift can help reduce sagging or drooping brows associated with aging. The procedure can also be used to improve the appearance of the brows or eye area for non-age-related reasons. For example, patients with hooded eyes may find that a Botox brow lift reduces this appearance. The treatment may also reduce some lines and wrinkles around the brow and peri-ocular area. However, it is important to manage your expectations and discuss your best treatment options and goals with Dr. Chetty during your consultation. For example, those who are concerned about horizontal lines across the forehead may find that a Botox treatment of the upper forehead decreases the potential effect of the Botox brow lift. Dr. Chetty will explain what you can expect. Finally, some patients with neurological disorders like Myasthenia Gravis may not be suitable candidates for Botox injections. For this reason, your health history will be carefully assessed during your consultation to ensure that Botox is a safe and effective option for you.

Is a Botox as Effective as Surgery?

Results from a Botox brow lift and a surgical brow lift are not identical. A Botox brow lift is an effective way to raise the eyebrows and improve drooping, but may not smooth significantly deeper wrinkles secondary to volume loss. Botox brow lift results can further be improved when combined with temple and cheek fillers.  Patients with severely loose or saggy skin may also not achieve the results they were hoping for without surgery. However, this non-surgical option has many benefits that a surgical procedure does not. Botox injections require no downtime and allow patients to avoid the more severe side effects of a surgical brow lift e.g., scarring, infections, eyelid asymmetry etc. This treatment is also generally safer because patients avoid the risks associated with surgery and anesthesia. During a consultation, Dr. Chetty will determine whether you can achieve the results you are looking for using Botox.

How Long Does a Botox Brow Lift Last?

Like other Botox procedures, Botox brow lifts are not permanent. The body naturally and safely metabolizes Botox over time, meaning that your results will gradually subside and the muscles will once again contract. On average, patients can expect Botox results to last about three to four months. This will vary depending on factors such as your metabolism and the injection site. Once your Botox results subside, you can choose to have maintenance injections to continuously improve your results and prevent your brow from drooping further.
